Activating SMARTY eSIM on Android

Confirm your Android supports eSIM
Check your device specs — not all Android models support eSIM. iPhones from XR onwards, Samsung Galaxy from S20 onwards, and Google Pixel from Pixel 3 onwards support eSIM.
Check your device is unlocked
A carrier-locked Android will reject SMARTY eSIM. To check: go to Settings → Network & Internet → Mobile Network → Advanced → Access Point Names. If you see a carrier lock message, contact your current provider to unlock.
Request a fresh QR code from SMARTY
eSIM QR codes expire after 24–72 hours. If the code was emailed more than 3 days ago, contact SMARTY on smarty.co.uk live chat to get a new activation link.
Scan in good lighting with mobile data off
Turn off mobile data and Wi-Fi (use only the activation download). Scan the QR code using Settings → Network & Internet → Mobile Network → Advanced → Access Point Names on your Android. Ensure the code is fully visible — partial scans fail silently.
Follow SMARTY activation path
Complete activation via: SMARTY.co.uk → My Account → SIM → eSIM activation. Follow every on-screen prompt without skipping steps. Carrier provisioning can take 10–15 minutes.
Restart and wait for provisioning
After activation completes, restart your Android and wait up to 30 minutes for SMARTY to fully provision the eSIM profile. Data and calls should activate automatically.
Contact SMARTY if still inactive
If the eSIM shows as installed but has no service after 30 minutes, call SMARTY on smarty.co.uk live chat. The provisioning record may need resetting on SMARTY's system.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is my Android compatible with SMARTY eSIM?

To use SMARTY eSIM on your Android, the device must be eSIM-compatible and unlocked. iPhones from XR onwards, Samsung Galaxy from S20 onwards, and Pixel from Pixel 3a support eSIM. Confirm compatibility at the SMARTY eSIM information page or call smarty.co.uk live chat.

How long does SMARTY eSIM activation take?

Most SMARTY eSIM activations complete within 15 minutes. In some cases, provisioning can take up to 2 hours. If your eSIM shows as installed but has no service after 2 hours, restart your Android and contact SMARTY on smarty.co.uk live chat to trigger a manual provisioning refresh.

Can I have both eSIM and physical SIM on SMARTY?

Yes, if your Android supports Dual SIM — most modern flagships do. You can run a SMARTY eSIM alongside a physical SIM from another carrier, or use the SMARTY eSIM as your primary and keep a travel SIM as secondary.
